teri hatcher

Teri Lynn Hatcher was born in Sunnyvale,California on December 8, 1964 to Owen and Esther Hatcher. The only child of a nuclear physicist and a computer programer, Teri spent most of her childhood dancing and fishing with her father. In high school Teri was the head of the Featherettes, a dance team for Fremont High School which had the look of regular cheerleaders, with the exception of the large head dresses they would wear. Teri was also voted "Most likely to become a Solid Gold Dancer" by her graduating class of 1982. Teri attended a local college after graduation, in her pursuit for a teaching degree; not to mention attended the acclaimed American Conservatory Of Theater Arts in San Fransisco. At the same time she pursued her 15 minutes of fame as a member of the 1984 Gold Rush, the name given to the professional cheerleading squad of the San Fransisco 49ers. Teri probably thought that was the closet was was ever going to get to be a star...she would soon find out that she had a long career ahead of her.

Teri stepped into Hollywood, more like danced, when she attended an audition with a friend to be a singing and dancing Mermaid on The Love Boat, in late 1985 to 1986. She was then cast as the aspiring and sometimes flaky Penny Parker on MacGyver in 1986 and guest starred in episodes for a few seasons after. Now, back to Teri...after The Love Boat was cancelled (who knew that was going to happen) and Richard Dean Anderson proved to be a real Dick, Teri moved on, in her own direction. Teri tried a turn at her own shows, such as Karens Song with Patty Duke and Sunday Dinner with Robert Loggia, but neither succeeded. So...Teri moved on to Guest Starring Status: In shows such as Murphy Brown as a woman who sent love faxes to FYI's producer Miles Silverburg. She also had somewhat of a ...problem. On Quantum Leap she played a young student, and past love, who Sam has to help reunite with her estranged father. On LA Law she guest starred as a woman posing as nudist in order to help shut down a nudist camp.

Teri's last guest starring role was on the hit show Seinfeld in early 1993. She accepted the part without really knowing what it was about. The plot turned out to be that Teri's character "Sidra" is dumped by Jerry after Elaine tells him that she thinks Sidras breasts are "too perfect" to be real. Teri also made many movies during this time, all of them supporting roles. In The Big Picture she played Gretchen a narcissistic actress who knew what she wanted and always got it. In Tango & Cash Teri played Katherine/Kiki, Sylvester Stallones little sister who also happens to be an exotic dancer. (Sorry guys, she stayed clothed) In Soapdish as Ariel Maloney yet another vindictive actress who played a neurosurgeon on the soap opera "The Sun Also Sets". The movie also starred Sally Field, Kevin Klien, Cathy Moriarty, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Shue and Robert Downey Jr. In Straight Talk, starring Dolly Parton, Teri played Janice, the very fed up girl friend of James Woods. I don't know what she did in this film, because she was only in it for maybe ten minutes. Unfortunately Teri made some movies that never made it to the theater. In the made for Showtime movie Dead In The Water Teri played a woman who helps her married lover do away with his wife only to come to her own demise. Straight to video movies followed with All Tied Up As Linda, a woman who has to teach her philandering boyfriend a lesson in fidelity In Brainsmasher: A Love Story Teri played Samanthaha Crane, a model who needs Andrew Dice Clay to protect her from killer ninjas(it's actually better then it sounds, but I'm very bias) The Cool Surface A movie I personally hated at first until I made myself watch it over and over again, and with the exception of the ending, I really like it. It's not a piece of art, but it is better then some people like to admit. Notice I said nothing about the movie..probably because I can't think of any way to describe it, other then Teri being fantastic and very underated in this film. The superficial roles ended in 1993 when Teri was cast as Lois Lane in the new television series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman" It almost didn't happen when the producers were convinced she was too beautiful to play Lois Lane; she obviously proved them wrong. For four years Teri pulled off the best performance of Lois Lane ever to grace the screen.

Later that year, Teri was set up on a blind date with an actor, and Teri had been wary of dating actors, but she conceded to the date. That night she ended up talking to a ficus plant and Jon Tenney ended up falling madly in love with her. They were wed on May 27, 1994 in New York City. They spent their wedding day in FAO Swartz and their wedding night at The Four Seasons Hotel During the summer between seasons of Lois & Clark, Teri was able to chose better roles for herself, roles that were more about her acting abilities then her breast size. Weeks after her wedding, Teri rushed to New Orleans to film the cajun drama Heavens Prisoners in which she played Claudette Roque a woman who was as vindictive as she was beautiful, but it was not released to theatres until May of 1996. The next year, Teri filmed 2 Days In The Valley where she played an Olympic skier who was tired of coming in third and of her cheating husband, so she pays to have her husband murdered. Teri made one more movie during the last hiatus of Lois & Clark , titled Since You've Been Gone which sat untouched for almost two years before it was finally shown on ABC April 18, 1998. Also during the last hiatus of Lois & Clark, Teri hosted Saturday Night Live in May of 1996. Next to Jim Carrey it was the highest rated episode of SNL that season. Lois & Clark ended it's four year run on June 14, 1997, but that must have been a sign of good times to come; Teri found out she was pregnant with her first child not long after the cancellation rumors started. Teri then went on to become a Bond Girl in the latest of the series, portraying Paris Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies which opened December 19, 1997.

What has to be the greatest moment in Teri's life happened at 11:10 pm on November 10, 1997...Teri gave birth to her first daughter Emerson Rose Tenney... Since the very time consuming Lois & Clark was no longer taking over her life, Teri had time to do other projects, besides changing diapers:) While she was still pregnant she did a series of Discover Card commercials and in May of 1998 she appeared in the final episode of Seinfeld. In October 1998 Teri appeared on Frasier as an obsessive compulsive woman Frasier becomes obsessed with. She was terrific as always. At the end of 1998, Teri signed on to portray Sally Bowles on a road tour of "Cabaret" which premiered in Los Angeles on March 2, 1999 Teri sang her last Cabaret on Saturday September 4, 1999 and I was happy to be there in the audience to cry along with Teri as she said goodbye to the thousands who cheered her on. In August 2000 Teri's political film Running Mates with Tom Selleck, Nancy Travis, Laura Linney and Faye Dunaway premiered on TNT and got great ratings. Teri appeared in The Vagina Monologues in New York City in July of 2000. Since the fall of 1999 Teri has been appearing with Howie Long in a series of Radio Shack commercials; so far over thirty have aired and more are expected for the next decade. On March 30th, Teris film Spy Kids is due to open and on November 27th- December 10, 2000 Teri performed once again in The Vagina Monologues; this time in California.
